HOME / PROJECTS / territories + large landscapes / New Île aux Tourtes Bridge
DESCRIPTION
Landscaping project, linked to the construction of the road infrastructure, involving the treatment of the landscape around the highway in the east and west approaches to the bridge, coordinated with the route of a multi-purpose path giving access to pedestrians, cyclists and other light mobility. It includes the creation of a small square at the eastern threshold of the bridge, providing a stopping point on the multi-purpose path. The project as a whole focuses on vehicular and human-scale experiences, the site as a habitat for flora and fauna, and the visual quality of the bridge's various vantage points in the landscape. The cultural, built and plant heritage of the landscapes through which the bridge passes, as well as the notion of a journey, are enhanced by the design. The landscaping project includes and integrates environmental renaturalization work to compensate for deforested areas and reforestation to compensate for GHG emissions, as well as projects to compensate for and restore wildlife habitats and water environments.
