McGill College: Reinventing the Avenue Competition, Montreal, Qc. Canada
HOME / PROJECTS / streets + roadscapes / McGill College: Reinventing the Avenue Competition
DESCRIPTION
Project submitted as part of the international multidisciplinary urban design competition. Entitled "Royal ultra nature", the proposal takes the opportunity of the avenue's renewal to create a strategic rooting that celebrates Montrealers' unique relationship with the mountain. The project concentrates the archetypal avenue into a visual and formal axis of 11.5m, perfectly aligned with the main alley of the McGill campus, freeing a generous space for the deployment of natural rooms. This approach reinforces the X (rue Sainte-Catherine), Y (McGill College axis), Z (mountain geomorphology) relationship in a judicious amalgam where the animation of the city and the poetry of nature cohabit.
