HOME / PROJECTS / installations + events / Populus tremuloïdes
Urban renewal installation for the commercial and heritage sectors of Notre-Dame Street in the eastern edge of Montreal over a ten-year period. Inspired by the movement of trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) leaves in the wind, a tree species native to Pointe-aux-Trembles, the installation project creates a distinctive and dynamic atmosphere for the neighborhood. Strategically dispersed along a 3 km stretch of the street, it attracts the attention of commuters and pedestrians alike. The project is developed through sculptural installations attached to existing light standards, new site furniture, and striking pavement marking. The contemporary design statement reflects the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage. It acts as a link between the site’s important historical landmarks, activities, and destinations.
